Deck Building - Wooden Flooring
Decking - wood flooring in garden design
Wood flooring is traditionally used for terraces and decks, verandas and patios. It goes well with wooden porches and ladders, creating an atmosphere of comfort and peace. Decking (aka garden parquet) has also found its application in garden design: graceful wooden bridges superbly replace garden paths and paths, and from the cross-sections of thick trees excellent paths "from hemp to stump" are obtained. Such paths look very original, but the stumps tend to get wet quickly, so sometimes in wet weather you need to use such a path with caution.
Types of decking
The design of the decking provides for two parts: front (lamella) and backing. Depending on the design of the latter, there are hard and soft decking.
Hard deck building. It is made of wood, resistant to decay and weathering, and fixed to metal structures. It is a rigid frame (base) on which the lamellas are laid. This type of decking is often used not only for arranging terraces and recreation areas, but also for paving paths. It's comfortable, practical and often lasts longer than tiles or asphalt. This type of decking is often more expensive than rigid decking. The high price is fully paid off by the simplicity and ease of laying the material.
The soft deck consists of individual modules that mesh with each other like a constructor. Such a system makes it possible to simplify and speed up work as much as possible, and also gives the entire structure the required degree of rigidity.
Decking: advantages and uses
Deck covers are an opportunity to obtain a very attractive, warm surface of any shape. This can be a garden path, a balcony or veranda, an open terrace or a floor in a gazebo. Decking can also be used in the home, but traditionally this material is intended for surfaces that are outdoors all year round. On a balcony, loggia or veranda, such a coating will help you get maximum comfort surrounded by natural materials. Another plus is the anti-slip embossed surface. Wood flooring is considered an all-weather covering - when it gets cold or rainy, the deck will outlast it perfectly.
If you park your car next to your house, but do not want to pave or concrete the yard, an ironwood decking will help you. Two strips of this very durable material will organically fit into any design of the site, while guaranteed to relieve you of the rut, which is filled with water.
A common use of deck building is to design garden paths. Using the deck allows you to create beautiful wooden paths that are comfortable for both adults and children in any weather. Wooden paths in the garden will not turn into streams or slide when it rains or melts snow. Garden paths are covered with a wide variety of wood species, from traditional varieties to exotic and rare species with their own special properties. The variety of used types of wood gives scope for original design solutions.
Among the advantages of decking are the luxurious colors of the lamellas, from soft golden brown shades to rich crimson brown.
High-quality wooden flooring is always distinguished by increased resistance to abrasion. With the right choice of material for the backing, the deck building will last at least 50 years without any problems.
